Investing in your community...an experience you won't forget
The 2013 Community Investment Process is the tenth iteration of this process that I've overseen. As much as the process has changed and evolved over the years, one thing has remained the same: the importance of the volunteers.
Community Investment Volunteers work hard for change in our community. They attend training to familiarize them with the process, review applications for funding, visit program sites, recommend funding levels and defend those recommendations at the final funding meeting. They represent the community as a whole and invest community dollars in programs that create real, lasting change in our community. They work at local manufacturing plants, banks, retail establishments, hospitals, distribution centers, schools. They work in large and small offices, for local business owners and for large companies with multiple locations. They are your co-workers and neighbors.
Below are some quotes from past community investment volunteers. We hope that reading about their experiences will pique your interest in this volunteer opportunity. We are currently recruiting volunteers for the 2013 Community Investment Process. If interested, click here for more information.
“For someone who is new to the community, this experience provides a great overview of all the various needs in the community and the associated programs that serve those needs.”
“Stretching the dollars to all of the quality applications was both difficult and enjoyable. I learned a great deal about the River Valley community. There are a lot of great people doing great things.”
“I was interested in participating in the process so I would be able to contribute to my community with knowledge gained through business and personal experiences.”
