$2 a week or $104 per year provides 26 home delivered meals to an elderly person. Last year 62,394 meals were delivered by Meals on Wheels/Senior Activity Center
$4 a week or $208 per year provides a year’s worth of tutoring services to an adult basic literacy student. Last year more than 120 literacy students achieved advancements in their literacy level.
$8 per week or $416 allows a child from a low income family an opportunity for child care for a month in an early childhood development center.
$10 per week or $520 provides counseling and support for a rape victim or a sexually abused child and their family.
$12-15 a week or $624 per year provides an at-risk child with a positive adult mentor or an abused or neglected child with a court appointed special advocate.

Five Things You Can Do
1. Participate in the 2008 NALC Food Drive on May 10th.
2. Educate yourself on community issues and spend June 21st, the longest day of the year, advocating for your community.
3. Create a collection point at your business or office to collect school supplies for the annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive on July 26th.
4. Visit our booth at the Business Expo August 5th & 6th to record how you live united.
5. Organize a team and register to volunteer for the 5th Annual River Valley United Way Day of Caring on September 12th.
